Marie River

Fishing Brazil Adventures, a fishing tour operator, offers you:

A full 6-day fishing package on Marié River, 7 nights on board at our Luxurious Floating Hotel that accommodates up to 8 anglers in 8 private suites all equipped with air conditioning and bathroom (or a maximum of 12 considering double occupancy).

The Marié River is located in the Northwest corner of the Brazilian Amazon, up near the Colombian border. It is a tributary of the upper Rio Negro. The Rio Negro basin is the largest drainage of "black" water in the world, with approximately 710,000 km² of land, and is currently one of the most preserved regions in the Amazon, with less than 0.5% of deforestation.

The Rio Negro is its main river, the second largest tributary of the Amazon River, which has the headwaters in the Serra do Junai Hills in Colombia and runs approximately 1000 miles to its confluence with the Solimoes River near the jungle city of Manaus.

The Rio Marie is entirely located inside a far-reaching Indigenous Territory, an area of more than 2 million hectares and approximately 500 miles northwest of Manaus, which is our operation's base point and the most important city in the Brazilian Amazon. This untouched environment has more than 500 miles of rivers, 180 known creeks, 60 lakes, and three major tributaries inside the new operation area. It is the first exclusive fly-fishing only project allowed and supported by the Brazilian Government. Official Environmental and Indian Institutes worked together with the Indian Association to create the very first official sport fishing operation in Brazil inside an Indian Territory.

The operation is designed mainly for fly-fishing but bait-casting is available during some weeks of the season.

Rio Marié is simply the ultimate Peacock Bass fishery, and the locals call it "Rio de Gigantes".

During each fishing week, a serious angler is bound to hook into a good number of Temensis peacock bass whose average size is astounding at over 10 lbs, not to mention a significant amount of 20+pound trophies. Every day fly anglers are casting on the Rio Marie they are in the legitimate pursuit of the next world record Peacock.

The package, from September to December,  includes a seaplane charter flight from Manaus to Rio Marié that takes approximately 3 hours. The flight leaves Manaus early on Sundays and returns on the following Sunday. In January, the trip is done with a commercial flight from Manaus to São Gabriel da Cachoeira city and then from there to Marie River by express boat.

We suggest anglers schedule their arrival in Manaus in advance to avoid delays in the departure of the charter flight. To be on the safe side we strongly recommend you to arrive in Manaus on Friday. Booking your arrival to Manaus too close to this charter flight time could prove highly problematic – if you arrive too late for it, getting your private charter flight would be enormously expensive, if not impossible. Quite a few people opt to come in a day early – on Friday – as this virtually eliminates this potential problem. It costs an additional hotel night, but for many, it is worth it, for the peace of mind.

On the last day return flights home should be scheduled with departure not before 17:00 hours Manaus time.

Complete Care from Touchdown to Takeoff.
